CALLED THE GIRL "GINGER!"
STORY OF A WOLLONGONC SHOOTBNC CASE. At Wollongong (N.S.W.) on the night of May 10 a boy, Frederick Walker was taken to the hospital suffering from a bullet wound in the chest. Subsequently a boy named Strong was arrested mi a charge of shooting Walker and occasioning him grievous bodily harm. After several adjournments the cane came on for hearing at the Police Court. Walker appeared in Court recovered. The medical, evidence was to the effect that.be would suffer no ill effects,-al-though. the, bullet was still embedded ne:tivtho. spinal column. From, other evidence it was adduced that as a result of a girl having been called "Ginger" by a boy named Mickey, . accused remonstrated with Hiekpy, who threatened accused. Hickey urged a number of his companions to "get to" accused, who offered to fight them individually, but he said lie would shoot at them if they attacked him i:i a body. They advanced in a body and accused drew a revolver and showed it to tho boys, who withdrew. Accused then put the revolver in Ins coat pocket, but kept his finger on the trigger. Walker then sprang on him from behind, and in the struggle the revolver went off and Walker was shot in the chest. The case was dismissed.
