THE BUTTER CHAMPIONSHIP.
The Manawatu Evening Standard says:—The butter championship at the Winter Show this year was very keenly contested, and in view of the strong competition it is a matter for satisfaction that the Kairanga Company should have shared with Stratford what is probably the most cpveted honor the butter makers of New Zealand can attain to. The local company is to be congratulated upon its success, a tribute alike to the staff, factory and district. Mr Cuddie, the director of the Dairying Department, bestowed high praise upon the champion butters. If produce of this nature could be landed on the London market it would certainly be equal to that from the very best Danish factories, he said. He doubted whether Danish butter would stand such a severe test and open up in as good condition. The achievement of the factories mentioned is therefore a notable one.
