NORTH V. SOUTH. [Pbe Press Association.] Wellington, June 17. For the first-class representative match' North Island v. South Island, to be played on Saturday, the following are the teams:—North Island.— Full back, J. Ryan; three-quarters, Stewart, D. Roberts, Stohr; fiveeighths, J. Mclvenzie, Weston; halfback, E. Roberts; wing forward, Taylor; forwards, Cain, Francis, Bruce, Smith, Downie, A. Wilson and Cotter; emergencies, Young, T. Leahv, and O'Brien. South Island. Full back, Scott; three-quarters, Pyle, Cockroft, Lynch; five-eighths, Black, Crawshaw; halfback, H. Taylor; forwards, Williams, Lindsay, Irvine, Fisher, McNeece, Graham, Langford, and H. Murray; emergencies, Hassell and Watson. The Wellington Rugby Union has appointed Mr A. Nielson as referee in the Wellington-Taranaki match at Hawera.

The match between the "B" teams of the North and South Islands created a great deal of interest to-day. In the first spell, Ryan got a try, which McKenzie converted, and McKenzie got a goal from a mark by Nunn, the spell ending North 8, South nil. In the second half, South woke up, Hassell, Cockroft and Green scored tries, Cockroft converting two (13 —8.) Palmerston North, June 17. There was ideal weather for the football match Te Aute v. Wanganui. The junior game was won by Wanganui by 22 to 0. The senior game was well contested. Wanganui scored a converted try and a penalty goal, Te Aute a try. THE LEAGUE CAME. Brisbane, June 17. England defeated Ipswich by 45 points to 8. The scores at half time were: England 14, Ipswich 5. In the second half England completely outclassed Ipswich, and scored whenever they liked.
