STRATHMORE NOTES.

[from qijr own correspondent.] A most enjoyable ball was held on the 12th hist., in return to the Makahu ladies, by the residents of Strathmore and surrounding districts. The hall was tastefully decorated with evergreens and flags. The weather being most favorable, many visitors journeyed from all parts,‘about forty couple taking part in the grand march. Excellent music was supplied by Mrs Bianchi and Mr A. Kelly. Mr K. Summerhays made an efficient M.C., and kept things moving. Thp supper, which was prepared hy the laides, left nothing to be desired.

A few of the dresses I noticed were as follows:—Mrs Gooding (secretary), old gold satin, black lace tunic; Mrs G. Calvert, tussore silk; Mrs Crudis, grey; Mrs Meredith, grey; Mrs H. Coleman, cream ; Mrs Petersen, champagne voile; Mrs Brewer, white taffeta silk, with ninon overdress; %Mrs Rentoul, saxe blue crepe; Mrs Pinney, cream; Miss Meredith, wlpte satin with ninon overdress; Miss Manning, cream ;Miss Tiplady, brown ;Miss C.
