The British oilship, San Valere, which has arrived at Philadelphia, re- > ports the loss of six of the crew. When the vessel sprung a leak, they volunteered to enter, among poisonous gas which had generated in the hold, to rescue a comrade who had been overcome while working there. The first mate, Elliott, who entered the hold seeking the leak, was overcome. Four Englishmen and one Finn followed, trying to rescue Elliott, but all died. They were buried in the sand dunes, near Tuxpan, Mexico, off which the accident occurred.
