Replying to the Employees' Federation's request for a conference, the Colliery Proprietors' Association state that if the men consider the conditions of employment under the award can be changed when they think fit there was very little hope of a conference serving any useful purpose; INCREASE IN SHIPPING RATES. (Received 8.50 a.m.') ' T Sydney, June 16. The increased freight rates in some cases are as high as ten shillings, which is causing comment and raising doubts as to the correctness in casting * the blame on the wharfies' wages. NEW UNION'S FEDERATION. A meeting of the Railway Workers' Association decided not to accept the constitution ' of the newly-created unions' federation.
