A YOUTH CHARGED.

Patrick Gunn, aged 18, was charged at the Police Court that at Kohimarama on May 21st, armed with a revolver, he assaulted Ellen Cdbk with intent to rob her. • Mrs Cook stated that she was the wife of a laborer living at Kohimarama. About midday, accused inquired for th'6 manager and she replied that she tfks the manager. Accused displayed a revolver, and pointed it at her, shying: “Stand aside or I’ll fire. Money I want—-money I’ll have!” He ordered her to get a handbag hanging in the kitchen. She spread the contents of the bag on the table. Th6rC was a threepenny bit, two pennies and a half penny. Accused did not take the money. Accused left remarking: “If you don’t leave this place in half an hour you’ll be a dead woman.” A fortnight later she saw accused in Queen Street, and pointed him out to her husband, who took accused to a constable. The defence was that Mrs Cook had mistaken the identity of her assailant. Re pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial.
