BERNARD'S PICTURES. The programme presented last night was an entirely new series. "Strange Inhabitants of the Deep" is a wonderful nature study by Patbe Freres. The comedy drama "Mrs Upton's Device" is a superior Vitagraph filmy introducing the course of true love and many funny incidents connected with same. The star drama, "The Test," is a lengthy portrayal of a surgeon's life in tho British Army, both in England and Africa, showing many stirring society points. This programme will be repeated this evening for the last time. To-morrow's change will bring tq light Pathe's sensational dramagraph "Handgrips with Death," which is a sensational Italian story showing how the infatuation of a . smuggler for a girl leads him to crime. Finding his-, ardour hopeless, he stirs up jealousy against the maiden and it is only in the nick of, # timo that she is rescued from a horrible death. The. smuggler gains the fate he hod intended for tho girl. Gerald Van Heck's orchestra still maintains a high standard of the latest music. . ! THE MYSTERIOUS LE MAR. To-morrow night in the Town Hall, will appear >the mysterious Le Mar Company, who are claimed to be great laughter-makers. Professor Le Mar is a.n gfjjiflxcaptional...skill. Ho keeps his audiences in roars of laughter all through the performance, and on Friday night he intends staging some of his funniest tests, included in which is the great circus act, where local residents become great star-actors in a big circus. Professor Le Mar has also earned a great name l of curing people from stammering and such lik# complaints, and he invites anyone to see him at the close of the performance to-morrow night. Miss Pauline Roshea will- give a display of mental telepathy and thought transference; which is quite new so New' Zealand <is her wonderful act, "Bending Catalepsie."
