There is a possibility of recrudescence, and the war being continued Huerta has made an announcement that he intends to blockade the Curranzistas at Tampico. Two Mexican gunboats left Puerta Mexico, followed by the American cruiser Tacoma and a gunboat. Huerta ordered the gunboats to seize the cargo of the Cuban steamer Autilla, on route for Tampico, and consigned to the Carranzistas. The Secretary of War, Mr Daniels, announces there will be no change in the policy of the United States to keep Tampico open for all commerce. WILL HUERTA RESIGN? (Received 10.55 a.m.) Washington, June 8. Huerta has abandoned his intention to blockade Tampico, asserting that his desire is not to interfere with the peace negotiations. Diplomatic circles regard the action as proof of Huerta’s intention to abandon the Presidency whenever arrangements are made for his successor.
DRUNKEN MEXICAN SHOT. (Received 11.40 a.m.) Washington, Juno 8. A drunken Mexican attempted to interfere with the Mexican police and United States infantry. Lieutenant Houston shot him dead. General Funstan reports that the Mexican attacked Houston with a knife, and therefore the act was justifiable homicide. No further action is considered necessary.
