TOLLS EXEMPTION DEBATE. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright [United Press Association.] (Received 8.5 a.m.) Washington, June 7. Senator Simmons has drawn up a compromise amendment on the tolls which is likely to receive considerable Republican support. The amendment, provides that the passage of tb<( Tolls Bill shall not bo held as a waiver or relinquishment of any right the United States of America may have with Britain under the treaty ratified in November, 1901, or otherwise, to exempt United States vessels or citizens from payment of tolls, or waiving or impairing the United States’ right under the said treaty with respect to the sovereignty over the Canal. It is expecte'd the vote on the measure will now be reached on Monday.
