Mr Stevens, a, British Columbia member, has given notice of an amendment to the Immigration Act, providing' for the-exclusion from the Dominion of all natives or naturalised citizens or emigrants coming from any Asiatic country south of the fiftieth parallel. The amendment exempts any country which has an agreement with Canada for the admission of its citizens. The amendment means the total exclusion of Malays, Chinese, Hindus, Persians and Turks. The Government of Japan has an agreement with Canada providing for the admission of a certain number of Japanese yearly.
