Dunlop has been scratched for the world’s hard courts tennis championship. In the Hard Courts Championship, Wilding defeated Demorpurgo, 6—o, 4—6, 6—o, 6—l. At Liverpool, Doust defeated Macfie, 6—2, 6—4, 7—6. HOCKEY. The following are the results of the tournament held at Hawera yesterday:—

Ngatimaru won three, Hawera High School, Hawera Public Sschool, New Plymouth High School, and Stratford won two, and the other teams one match by default. Kaponga had to forfeit every match, while Patea and Waverley forfeited four each owing to having to leave early to catch the train.

STRATFORD V. INGLEWOOD. The above teams met at Inglewood yesterday, a good game resulting in a draw—two goals each. Sergeant and Thompson scored for Stratford. GOLF. Eleven members of the Stratford Golf Club journeyed to Inglewood 'yesterday and played an unofficial [game with the local team. There were frequent showers during play.
