Since 1 the forgery of hank notes was reported in Auckland the police have kept ;t sharp look out on ail vessels front the Dominion, but failed to spot any suspects arriving. The movements of a foreigner, however, aroused suspicion, and lie was closely watched. To-night a strong force of detectives paid a surprise visit to his bdginghouse at lledi'ern and arrested the foreigner while at dinner. A search of his'room disclosed a complete plant for printing hank notes, including a press, printers' ink, (valuable lenses, prepared plates for 'etching, and a one-pound National |Bauk note, while under his pillow rested a fully loaded automatic pistol.
