FEAR OF EMPIRICAL LAWS. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] Times and Sydnf<y Sun Services. Washington, May.3o. Representatives of the Manufacturers' Association interviewed President Wilson, urging the suspension of business legislation by Congress because capital was avoiding investment owing to the fear of empirical laws. The President expressed his desire to assist business men, but* he said, it would be better to do something moderately and soberly than wait until the radical forces accumulated and compelled them to go much further.
