Its value, purely as a piece of jewellery, is set at £SOOO, and it is specially guarded. The trustees of the Hamburg Museum had previously cherished it for two centuries. Mr Allan J. Hill, the new secretary of the Stratford A. and P. Association, was introduced at the general committee meeting on Saturday by the president. Mr E. Jackson. Mr Jackson said Mr Hill could rely on the hearty support of all members of the Association, and he hoped he would boost the Association along and make the Show the best in the North Island. Thomson, of Stratford, received a telegram yesterday informing him of the death of Mr Archibald Halliwell, brother of his partner, in Hawera, Mr Herbert Halliwell, who left for Auckland this morning. The deceased gentleman was aged about 45, and was on the staff of the Public Works Department in Auckland. The Press Association report from Auckland states that Mr Halliwell, whose age was about 35, was found at sis o'clock on Saturday morning in Albert Park in an unconscious condition with a fractured skull and abrasions to the arms and knees. The man was well dressed and his pockets contained a watch and gold chain, seven sovereigns, and a document from the Public Works Department. He was conveyed to the hospital, where he died later.
