GREAT PRIZE LIST FOR HORSES.
For the International Horse Show, at Olympic, in London, nest month, the prize list is valued at £II,OOO, of which cash and cups represent nearly £lO,000. As before, a great feature will be made of the jumping classes, of which there are 18, and this attractive section absorbs £4510 worth of prizes. For riding horses, hacks, and ponies, the awards total to £940 ; for harness horses in the open classes £935; for novice harness horses £550; for four-in-hands £835; for the championship harness classes £470; for hunters not to jump £445 ; for harness appointment classes £225; while other items are trade turn-outs £2lO ; costers’ donkeys £9O; lire brigades £80; mounted constables £55; pace and action £SO; Shetland ponies £4O; and coach horn blowing £2O. A wholly fresh idea in the setting out of the jumping course has been adopted. The Olympia arena, which is 320 ft. long by 80ft. wide, will have no permanent obstacles, as the advantages of an uninterrupted stretch of tan have been clearly demonstrated.
