THE SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
The Scottish Society held a meeting in Messrs Jackson’s office last night to make final arrangements for the social on June 3rd. Mr A. F. Grant was voted to the chair.
Mr C. Jackson reported haviftg seen Mr McGregor, of Auckland, who ail] lie present ami sing some of the “Auld Scottish Sangs.” Miss Knight, of Wellington, who sang so pleasingly at lust year’s concert, will again he here and will sing “Caller Herrin” and “My Ain Folk.” Miss Sangster, who is well known to Stratford audiences, will contribute some of the favorite songs of Scotia. Mr Douglas is again to the fore, and Mr Hawkins will sing and recite. Airs Thomas, a well-known singer from Christchurch, will appear before a Stratford audience for the first time. There will he the usual Scotch dances and sailor’s hornpipe. The pipers will bo in full force, and will play for the Scotch dances. Altogether, there will be a first class programme, and the supper wil be in the hands ot the ladies and will be up to the previous high standard set by them. It was decided to thank Mr Will Diamond for bis endeavor to get Harry Lauder to come to Stratford.
