Stratford A. & P. Association. ANNUAL REPORT. GENTLEMEN,— In presenting the Annual Report and Balance-Sheet for the year ending 30th April, 1914, the Executive Committee desire to. congratulate members upon another successful year. Financially and otherwise, the Show held on 3rd and 4th December, 1914, was a- great success. The standard of excellence in all classes was well maintained and added interest was provided by competitors in the cattle classes from Southern Districts. Your Executive are of the opinion that the, entries m the cattle classes do not increase in ratio to the number of good herds there are in and around Stratford. There is no doubt that, within a radius of 15 miles of Stratford, there are enough cattle, which, if brought to the Show, would still further advance Stratford’s reputation of beinp' the largest Dairy Show in the Dominion. The quality is in the district, and it only needs a little enthusiasm ou the part of farmers to bring about this desitahle result. Sheep Classes wore comparatively small, but with the pushing on of the Whangamomoua Railway, the number of competitors will no doubt largely increase. £ The Grounds and Buildings have been well cared for during the past year, and the former are now in a high state of cultivation. The fences have been tightened, pipe drains have been laid in one paddock, and the main entrance has been metalled and a side walk also completed. The Stratford Borough Council is about to widen the metalline 1 on the Flint Road to the entrance gate,’so that by next Show this part of the Grounds will be thoroughly efficient to cope with all traffic. The membership now stands at 840, and unpaid subscript ions amount to £IOO. Mr W. P. Kirkwood some time ago donated a special prize to the member who secured the most new members up to the 30th April, 1914. This has been won bv Mr B. Orr, who nominated 22 members. Your Executive urges upon you to do your utmost to secure the nomination of new members, as it is largely by means of the membership that continued success is assured. Two Gymkhanas have been held during the last year, and resulted in a profit of £203, accruing to the Association. A Gift Stock Competition was also instituted, and the resultant profit was £l3O, with a few more returns to come in. The secretary, Mr W. B. Fearon, having resigned, applications were called for a new secretary, and at a meeting of the General Committee held last Saturday, Mr A. J. Hill was elected. Yon will he required to elect a President, four Vice-Presidents and a Genera Committee of 20, at the Annual Meeting, which is to be held in the Borough Council Chambers on Saturday, 23rd May, at 1.30 p.m. We are, Gentlemen, For the Executive Committee, J.
