A record seizure of opium was made by the Customs officials ou board the steam or Ashburton, bound from Loudon via Cape. Five hundred pounds weight, valued at over £SOOO was discovered among the coal. The captain, officers, and crew, a number of whom are Chinese, deny knowledge of the presence of the drug.
