MEW SLAUGHTER WORKS.
THE NORTH OTAGO DISTRICT. [Per, Prtob Association.;^ Christchurch, May 18. The Christchurch, Meat Co'*, new works at Pukeuri demonstrate the possibilities of the North Otago district in an agricultural and; pastoral sense., Operations were commenced in March, and since have been f.ully employed. Supplies of stock come forward free ly. The company's confidence, has already been amply justified. Under, the old conditions.large quantities of stock were railed away from Oamaru owing to the company's inability to cope with it at the old works, the capacity of which was only about half that of the new works. The slaughtering in one day> has already exceeded three, thousand and the weekly slaughter k*eeps a steady average of twelve to thirteen thousand.
