LONDON WOOL SALES. [B* Eleoikio Tklegbaph—Copyright) J.UNIIKD PUKSB ASSOCIATION ' London, May 16. The wool sales have closed. Dunig the series 117,500 bales were sold for the Home market, 40,000 for the Continent, and; 24,000 for America, while 5000 bales were held over. Merinos steadily, hardened. Good average combings closed fully 7J per pent, above March rates; short and faulty showed a 5 per cent, advance; but in choicest there was little change. All fine crossbreds and the choicest of the medium were keenly competed for for the Continent and the United States, making fully a penny advance. All coarse grade and shabby mediums remained about unchanged, but showed a hardening tendency in the last few days. For slipes there was keen demand, best advancing by }d; scoured, id to Id;, lambs and merinos, firm and unchanged; crossbreds were irregular; seedy parcels in buyers' favor, but free sorts advanced 5 per cent. The sales included: Erewhou, top 12d. average, .Hid; Terina, 12d and Hid; Ewhea,. 13Jd and 11 sd; Titi, 14d and 11M; Ornamature, 14d and 13d. t " ,-i . (Received 8.5 a.m.) London, May 17. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 14th May, 1914:—Sheepskins. Merino sheepskins hiave advanced }d, and crossbreds |d per lb since last sales.
