MAULED BY A LEOPARD.
AN ENTERPRISING MOTORIST. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright [United Press Association. 1 London, May 12. Advices via Rhodesia states that ,Captain Kelsey cabled on August 30th that he was in. the hospital at the Rev. J. S. Moffat's mission near Seranje, having been severely mauled by a leopard. He is progressing favorably.
Captain cKelsey was at the head of a party of iix, including a special correspondent of the Daily Telegraph and a kinematograph ; .bperator, who essayed a motor trip from Capetown to Cairo, a distance of 7500 miles. Their automobile was specially constructed of steel, is detachable and capable of being used as a float for crossing river* and lakes. The route lies through German East Africa, by the Victoria Nyanza into British East. Africa, and thence through Uganda and along the course of the Nile through the Sudan and Egypt. The Cape Administrator (Sir N. F. de Waal) presented Captain Kelsey with a Union Jack emblazoned with the arms of the Cape Province and the star and crescent of Turkey.
