CONFIDENCE TRICK AGAIN

Leslie Montieth, a resident of Auckland, a passenger hy the Manuka, was the victim of a confidence trick. When standing on the deck of the steamer, he entered into conversation with a stranger. Montieth pulled out a gold watch to see the time. The stranger remarked on its excellent design, and asked its value. Montieth replied that he did not know, as the watch was a present from his mother. The stranger suggested that it should be valued, and I induced Montieth to go to a welljknown jeweller's in George street. iThe stranger entered with the watch. !
