FIVE PILOTS DROWNED.
PILOT BOAT COLLIDES WITH STAR OF NEW ZEALAND. [By Electric Telegraph —copyright [United Press Absooiatjon.J (Received 8.35 a.m.) London, May 13. The Star of New Zealand collided with and sank a pilot boat and five pilots were drowned. SURVIVORS’ MARROW ESCAPE. USED THE ANCHOR CHAIN AS THE VESELS STUCK FAST. (Received 10.20 a.m.) London, May 13. Fourteen survivors had a narrow escape. It was found impossible to launch the pilot cutters’ boats. Several scrambled aboard the Star of New Zealand by the anchor chain as the vessels stuck fast. Directly they parted, the cutter sank three minutes, after the collision.
