IMPORTANCE TO SHIPPING

[By Elko trio Telegraph—Cop » sight] [United Puebb Association.] Sydney, May 13. The High Court, on appeal, delivered a judgment of great importance to shipping. A seaman sought compensation from the Union S.S. Co. for injuries received aboard the steamer Moana two hundred miles at sea on the return voyage from San Francisco to Sydney. The claim was based on a voyage from Sydney to Sydney, and therefore the ship would bo under the Commonwealth law for the whole voyage. The Company held that it was not liable to pay compensation until they reached Commonwealth waters. The Court upheld the Company’s contention.
