FOOTBALL.
THE STRATHMORE CLUB. A valued correspondent at Te Wera writes: An, enthusiastic meeting of tlje Te Wera Football Club was held ati OPa; Wera on Thursday evening, Mr Aj- Meredith presiding. Owing to circumstances, it was deemed advisable to alter the name of the Club from Te Wera to Strathmore. This was opposed" by some of the Te Wera members, a» the Te Wera Club had a 'good reputation, only losing one match- in the three years it had been formed. The following, officers were elected : Patron, Mr J. B. Hine, M.P., presidents, Messrs A. Meredith and 0. McAloon; vice-presidents, Messrs B. Boyh>, V ; . •N'dlan, W. Good, T. McIlroy, R. Finniety, M. O'Neil, S. Gooding, W. Holtz, ff. Comre, A. Anderson', J'. 1 Jackson. G. Calvert, W. G.-Calvert, W. Thurston and Mrs Flynihj'selectors, Messrs 0. McAloon, A. Meredith, and W. Thurston; delegate, Mr W.' Thurston; secretary and treasurer, Mr It. Meredith. A lengthy discussion ensued over a letter received from the Whanga. Club, r© 1 joining the sub-union under the jttris'dietiori : * : of the Taranaki Rugby Union, arid it was decided to give the scheme the CTub's support, in order to bring the matter to a successful issue. Every effort will be made by this Club to put the subunion and the Rugby game in this district on a solid footing... -
