The"hedges had all been nicely trimmed. The Gardener reported: I have still abundance of vegetables arid will have for a long time. Have been trimming hedges and have about finished, The stable manure is coming in ilow and when space is cleared I will get it dug in for the winter,,—On the motion;of Mr Sole it was decided to purchase; a new wheelbarrow ..fog, the gardener.
The Health Tnsepctor reported :. Infectious diseases v.Tlp-ee.sageis',; of ! scarlet fever, one.case of tuberculosis, one case'of infantile paralysis,, and one cqso of chiokenpox were:notified in Stratford Borough . All the .patients were isolated at home except one of the scarlet fever patients, who was cemQ,ved to,-the hospital and the premises disinfected. One case, of infantile paralysis was notified in . Stratford County, . The patient recovered and. the: premises have been disinfected.,.. One suspected case of scarlet fever,was notified in Wliangamoraona County., The patient is isolated at'home and precautions are being taken against spread of disease.. Two houses were disinfected after chicken-pox and one after scarlet fever in'Stratford Borough. Stratford Borough: Five hotels were inspected and. in each instance tjie respective licensees were asked todiaye defects remedied. ' Three. Trnii> "shops and. three butcher’s shops were inspected. In one instance a defect was remedied in connection with a butcher’s shop. The following articles of food were-condemned and destroyed.: Onq 201 b case, of pears, T4lb , of beef brawn and 31b of pressed beef. Stratford - County: Three butchei-’s shops, one bakehouse, 1 and one hotel were inspected. A defect was 1 remedied, at one of the butcher’a 1 shops and ‘tlje licensee of the hotel was asked to re-move-offensive accumulations from backyard. WJianaginomona County; Oiie hotel was inspected and the licensee was asked to abate nuisance. Two hoarding houses, 21 dwellings, one butcher’s shop, one bakehouse, and one fruiterer’s shop were insepeted. The following nuisances were asked to be abated : Two accumulations of offensive matter and two nuisances caused by the keeping of animals. GENERAL. The Town Clerk notified, that the question of erecting a new pound was being considered hy the Borough Council, and that an amount for it would he placed on this year’s estimates. Messrs E. J. R. Hill, D„ R, Right, F. E. Baker, and G. .May wrote offering the Board sections for the purposes of a hospital at Kolmratahi.—/Mr Meredith was asked to obtain details of the position of the sections and terms of sale.
The Inspector-General notified that a subsidy of 21s in the pound would be paid on money subscribed for the salary of a Plunket Nurse.—The score--fcary said that Nurse Stronaeh and Mrs A. W. Budge had collected about £l4 for the purpose, and the suggestiqn had been made that the services of the Rlunket Nurse at Hawera should be availed of at times, the money collected to he used for paying her expenses when visiting Stratford.—Tl 'was decided to write to the Inspector-General explaining the position.
