LONDON WOOL SALES. Bt Electric Telegraph—Copyright} [United Press Association.] (Received 8.5 a.m.) London, May 10.

At the wool sales there were large offerings. For crossbreds there was good competition and prices were maintained. Catalogued 135,036 bales, sold 129,516. The following prices were realised for the fleece portions of the New Zealand clips named: Ngatapa top 12£d, average Hid; Te Kapu, 12id ;> lid; Ugbrooke, 15d, 14id.

HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.

The High Commissioner’s market report under date London, May 9th, is as follows: Mutton.—There has been a better tone in the market this week, and there is general confidence in the maintaining of present prices, which are as follows:—Canterbury 4£d per lb for light weight, North Island 4&d for light weight; a small number of the best quality have sold at an i advance of £d in each case.

Lamb.—The market is firm with improved demand. Canterbury two’s 6Jd, heavy weight sfd, other than Canterbury 5 15-16 d.

Beef.—There is a better demand for beef. New Zealand binds 4 7-16 d per lb, fores 3 7-16 d, chilled hinds ojdj fores 3JdButter.—The market is quiet. Danish is steady at per cwt 112 s to 114 s, New Zealand in fair demand 106 s to 107 s, exceptionally fine 108 s, Australian little doing 100 s to 104 s, Argentine unsalted quiet at 104 s to 108 s, Siberian steady at 99s to 100 s. Irish creameries (good inquiry) 104 s to 108 s.

Cheese.—. The market is weaker with more inquiry at lower prices. Canadian white per cwt 66s to 68s, colored 68s to 71s, Now Zealand white 60s to 61s 6d, finest colored 63s to 63s 6d, fine colored 62s to 62s 6d, Australian white 595, colored 60s to 61s, finest English Cheddar (new make) 60s. Hemp.—The market is quiet and

there is a general feeling of uneasiness arid buyers are cautious. New Zealand good fair per ton £26.
