NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
Everywhere nowadays one finds young men, and young women too, utilising the advantages of the leading correspondence schools to improve their knowledge and to gain btttaipositions in life. An institution that has turned out hundreds of successful students during the past fewyears, and to-day has a member snip roll of over four hundred, is Banks' Commercial College, 11 Grey Street, Wellington. In another column will be found an announcement by the principals. To any one contemplating a course of home-study a copy of prospectus No. 2 should prove interesting and instructive. It will be forwarded post free on request. Mr Jas. E. Campbell, sight specialist, may be consulted at Mr Fred Edwards', Broadway, on Wednesday next. In another column appears an announcement that Mr J. Donald, the proprietor of the Stratford Garage, has an up-to-date workshop and machinery, which enables him to repair all classes of cars. In fact, it can be claimed to be one of the most modern workshops in Taranaki. Besides a lofty and roomy garage for storing cars and motor cycles, with experienced and capable mechanics, he is in a position to do all vulcanising and retreading of covers, as well as to carry out all classes of repairs connected with cars and motor cycles. Having several up-to-date cars for hire with experienced drivers, the Stratford Garage is open to cater for the motoring public in every way. It should be noted that Mr Donald has the sole agency for Morris Oxford light cars and for the Rubq motor cycle. A meeting of the Scottish Society will be held in Messrs Jackson's office to-night, at 8 o'clock. Messrs Matthews, Gamlin and Co's. next Inglewood stock sale takes place . on May 13th. For high class millinery the Misses Walsh and O'Brien, of The Elite, Bridge Street, Eltham, have obtained quite a reputation. They announce that they are now showing special lines of up-to-date millinery, which they are offering at reasonable prices. Opera wraps and evening dresses .Te . a speciality. Particulars appear in another column of this issue. In connection with the Presbyterian charge at Toko, attention is directed to the alteration of services for next Sunday. Mr Newton King's fat pig sale at Stratford on Tuesday next includes 30 weaners and 15 porkers. Man wanted for garden.
