Mr Beddoe, Trade Commissioner for New'Zealand, points out that the United States supplied nearly the whole of the timber New Zealand imported during the year. The Canadian prices being higher than American is believed to ho’the cause. Mr Beddoe urges the Canadian lumbermen to cut prices in order to secure the valuable trade offered on the Pacific coast. Lumbermen assert that lumber is over-produced in the United States and enables lumbermen there to dump the timber to New Zealand.
