MOTORING FATALITY.

Shield, the driver, bad ids rigl.it arm broken. Mrs Groome and Miss Mackerssy escaped unhurt. Hastings, May -I. A motor accident resulting in the death of Arthur Groome, 33, sou oi Mr Mb K. Groome, a Aveii known sheep farmer, occurred near Te Ante on Saturday niglit. Mr and Mrs Groome, Miss K. Mackorsey, of Hastings, and Mrs A. M. Shield were returning from duck shooting at Te Onepn, Te Ante, by motor car. Mr Shield, owner of the car, was driving. The car skidded, and went over an embankment, falling on the occupants. Miss Maekersey managed to extricate herself and went for assistance, returning with help half an hour later. The ear was removed, and it was found that Groome had been pinned underneath in such a manner as had caused death by asphyxiation. Shield escaped with a broken forearm, and Mrs Groome with a bad shaking and bruises. At the inquest, held at Te Onepn yesterday, a verdict was returned of accidental death due to asphyxiation. The late Mr Groome had only been married about ten months.
