WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.
COUNCIL'S MONTHLY MEETING. At the meeting of the \Vhangamomoiia County Council, held bin Tuesday, there were present: Crs. A. Meredith (chairman), \V. A. McCutcban, W. Bacon, E. B. Roberton, X. K. Cleland, it. Mounsey and A. Coyne. An apology for absence on account of illness was received from Cr. McCluggage. ; .Tlic matter of getting metal put of! trucks at Mangare Road siding wat left in the hands of' the Engineer. who was also authorised to metal the Ohura .Road from the township towards Mangare Road at his discretion. it was decided to give effect to the Engineer's recommendations regarding metalling the crossings in the township, the cost- to be charged to the township loan account. Cr. McCutehan's action in authorising Mr Smith to re-open a blocked culvert in Marco Road was confirmed, as also was the action of the, Strathmore members in letting thirty chains of Brewer Road at 14s u'd per yard. The Engineer was authorised to Bbtain a further supply of concrete pipes.
The tender of Messrs Wilson and McKinty was accepted lor formation of 66 chains of Mangarewa itoad. The Council declined to grant a request by Mr Geever that the third* from both Ins sections be expended! ill giving him access from Arnold Road. Jt was decided, however, to get the Land .Hoard's view of the matter. Jt was decided to refund to Mi Julian, at the end of his contract, the difference between the freight on metal from Smart Road and Tariki. The Riding members were instructed to interview the Public Works engineer regarding the working and removal of the Mangaoata Road tram. The Engineer was asked to inspect and report on the condition of Whangamoraona Road a s far as the newly vested tunnel is concerned, and including the Poarangi tunnel, and,make application forthwith to put both in propei- order. Cr. Bacon and the Council's,officers were asked to attend at the Court at Stratford on, May Ist to represent the Council regarding objections to be included in the Oliura Road rating a rea. H. Woisin is to be informed that about £IOO is available for his track on Mangarewa Road. T. W. Keleher wrote objecting to paying the Brewer Road separate rate, but the Council could not see its way to rate him for Mangarewa Road. .1. Reritoul and YV. P. Pratt also objected to the rate. Their objections were hold over till next meeting, the Clerk in the meantime to prepare a valuation. On the application of the Stratford Hospital Board it was decided t< take steps to have the proposed si It for a hospital in Prospect Road vested in the Board. Messrs Moore and Pearson, of Rerekapu, are to bel asked to furnish full particulars of their desire to be included in the Wfca'ng'amomona County and the Clerk Was instructed to inquire if other settlers desired inclusion. The Clerk was instructed to find out what reserve at TaTiora had been set aside for the surfaceman, and to proceed with the building of a whare forthwith. It was decided to endorse the ap plication of Vera Road settlers to have a portion of the road closed. It was decided to erect a surfaceman's whare on the Kohuratahi pound site. Accounts amounting to £7860 were passed for payment.
