"LIFTING" FURNITURE.

At the Magistrate's Court two men, Albert Hansen and Harry Spopner, were charged with stealing and offering for sale furniture belonging to a woman resident of PYederick Street, who. had been ordered to undergo detention in connection with a case heard last week. On the afternoon of the day the woman was sent to the Salvation Army Home, the accused went to her place and removed the furniture, which they attempted to sell to a second-hand dealer. Accused pleaded guilty, and were committed, for sentence, Hansen being also fined 40s or one month for resisting the arresting constable.
