BERNARDS PICTURES. To-night's new programme of pictures are stated to 6 be of a high standard, the .feature film, "Partners in Crime," being a stirring Lubin detective drama. The actual partners in the crime are two prominent citizens who do not betray the slightest outward evidence of the prominent part they take in the depredations of a dangerous gang of motor-boat bandits who terrorise the inhabitants of the wealthy suburb in which they operate. The son of one of these two citizens is a newspaper reporter, who obtains the permission of bis editor to accompany and assist tho detective engaged b\ the citizens' committee to run the criminals to earth. The reporter docs not tell his father of bis intentions to track the gang. He and the detectives have a thrilling brush with the gang, and they pursue the leader in a motor-car while he (lies in another car to the reporters' home. Complications ensue and there is a mass of exciting incidents round which are woven a charming little love story. The gang is eventually captured by the police and the film has a powerful, yet touching and appropriate finale. The supporting pictures include "Latest Gauinont Graphic," "Jloso Carnival at Christchurch," and a host of dramatic and comic sensations. The orchestra, under the baton of Gerald Van liech is an up-to-date musical treat.
