The Emperor of Austria is progressing favorably. \
Mr John Bennett, the oldest theatrical manager in Australasia, who built many theatres, including the Thames in New Zealand, is dead, states a Sydney cablegram.
General Sir Tan Hamilton arrived at Dunedin from Invercargill last night. On arrival, he was presented with addresses of welcome by the Caledonian. Society and the Gaelic Society. He afterwards inspected the High School cadets, who formed the guard of honor, and the Railway Corps.
Mr Wish, a County employee, is the happy father of triplets, and to mark their appreciation of the event (states the King Country Chronicle) the Waitomo County Councillors have decided to grant him a bonus of £5.
The death is announced from London of Sir G. Doughty, Unionist member for Grimsby, in the House of Commons, at the age of 60, At the last election, deceased polled 7903 votes to his Liberal opponent (Mr T. Wing’s) 7205.
