Speculation was brisk, the sum of £30,454 being put through the machine, against £30,91!) for Uio corresponding day last year, making a total ot £58,230 10s for the meeting, compared with £52,829 10s last year. Heavy ram fell through the night and morning, bu the weather lifted in the afternoon The tracks were heavy. The sum oi £93 055 passed through the, machine, as against £22,143 10s on the corresponding day last year, making a total of £43,993 IQs for the meeting as against £39,133 10s, an increase of £4859.
