Lord and Lady Raglan and family had a narrow escape. The Isle of Man, situated in the Irish sea, has an area of 220 square miles and a population of 52,910: Castletown is the ancient capital, but Douglas with a population of 21,192 is the chief town, and the seat of Government. The Government is <l Honie Rule” under a Governor (Lord Raglan, C. 8.), who, with a Council and House of Keys of 24 members, makes up the Tynwald Court. The Manx people are mostly of Celtic nationality.
