AMUSEMENTS.
BERNARD’S PICTURES. The audience greatly appreciated the new series of pictures last night at Bernard’s. The programme includes a magnificent array of the world’s latest and best, and is headed by the Vita, star drama, “The Vocation of Suzette,” which introduces visions of a stage-struck gill- “ The Step-brothers,” a Western story by Flying American Company, is about the strongest backwoods drama yet seen here. “The Topical Budget” and “The Animated News” are chock full of interesting doings of tho world’s present current topics and fashions. The scenic pictures are real works of art, whilst the comics are the limit. In tho Vitagraph comedy, “Billy Smoke,” Billy thinks ho has hit a nice soft “snap” when he is asked to guide Lord Fitznoodlo to his mine. On the journey, Billy orders his Lordship to give up his clothes, which he himself puts on and rides away, leaving tho astonish'ed Lord to follow on foot. At the mine, Billy introduces himself as Lord Fitznoodle, and raises the wages of the men. The real lord arrives at the mine, and Billy is arrested, but does not stay in prison long.
On Monday Evening Lullin’s 2500 feet drama entitled, “The Sea Eternal,” will be screened in conjunction with a very large star programme. Gerald Van Heck, the famous violinist and his new orchestra, will commence his lengthy engagement. Van Heck has the reputation of a master musician and it is stated carries two violins, one of which is valued at £I2OO.
TOWN HALL PICTURES. There will bo a complete change of programme to-night at the Town Hall. The star picture of the evening, “The Forest Dwellers,” 3000 ft. drama, “Warwick Chronicle” (topical), showing all the interesting events of the day, portrayed in moving pictures. “Stage Robbers of San Juan” is a Kalem drama, and is noted for its intensely interesting situations. In “Reconciled in Reno” Jose and Manuel are shown to bo brothers. Samuel is the black sheep of the family, and for his bad habits is driven from home. Ho joins a band of outlaws who plan to hold up the cbach. Jose happens to bo on the coach with his now bride, and Samuel is about to kill him when the bride’s little friend prevents him. Under her influence Manuel becomes a better man and soon settles down.
