Twenty-six persons were; killed at Trinidad, Colorado,: through the-,burn-ing of. the tents*-when; "the State troops shelled • them ■■with; (machine guns. Throe women and a number of babies were among the dead. One man-tried to save his sister, who scrambled out of the treuch in which the strikers had taken refuge. Explosives used by the strikers burst, killing several during the bombardment. It is believed that the women •«nd children were suffocated when they took nefuge in a cave hear'the tents.
