HAWKER AT BALLARAT.

MEETS WITH A MISHAP.

At Ballarat on April 5, Mr Harry Hawker, the Australian aviator, at a public exhibition at the Miners’ Racecourse was unable to complete his programme, as bis machine came to grief. After the second flight he landed gracefully, and without alighting, proceeded to hurdle round the course. He turned rather sharply, and the machine suddenly dipped its nose into the turf. It stood on end for some moments, but to the relief of the crowd it did not turn completely over. In this flight Mr Hawker carried as a passenger Mr A. Harkens, and the pair appeared to be having a thrilling time while the machine was upended, hut neither -was injured. The only damage that the piachiuo sustained was a broken tractor.
