[its; Eleoteio Telegraph—Copyright] '[United Press association,' 1 London, April 18.
The committee of the Ulster Unionist Council, with Lord Londonderry’s and Sir Edward Carson’s approval, has issued a statement declaring that General Paget, acting on Col. Seely’s instructions, informed his generals on March 20 that the Government had resolved on immediate active operations.
He detailed the disposition of 25,000 troops, as described in the Morning Post.
It is alleged that General Paget explained the proposal was to blockade Ulster by land and sea. The intention was for the. Belfast police to seize the depots and arms belonging to the volunteers, also the headquarters of the Ulster organisation. Bloodshed would ensue. The volunteers would attack the police, whereupon the troops and naval force would be summoned into the firing
In the first battle, when the troops suffered causalties he wovild show a flag of truce ad demand the enemy's surrender. If this were refused, he would order an assault.
With a view of persuading the caxalry officers to participate he promised one regiment that it should be placed on the flank, and would thus be neutral. He promised the officers of another regiment that when the enemy located the disturbance, it would be arranged that the Cork regiment would be detached to suppress it.
The statement adds that a naval officers were sent toDublin to facilitate communication with the naval contingent. The Nation says that trouble arising out of the Army resignations is not over. There are murmurs of an Irish storm at Aldershot which will deepen if active operations against Ulster are necessary.
