Lord Denman, at a farewell dinner, discussing defence, said that maybe the expenditure to which thev were committed would prove a strain on the resources of the CommoiiT wealth, yet_maintenance at the highest possible standard was worthy of every effort. , Australia had made a splendid beginning. It would be a sad thing if those efforts were relax ed. He added that Australia wa* the most British of all the Dominions. He would interview Mr Churchill and put before him the .Australian view of the naval question.
