LEAGUE FOOTBALL. (By Eleutbio Telegraph—Copybigbt [United Pbbsb Association. ) London, April 15. In League football Manchester United defeated Liverpool 2 to 1, GOLF. STRATFORD CLUB'S OPENING. The Stratford Golf Club held theii opening day yesterday afternoon, whei, mixed foursomes were played. In spite of the inclement, weather about thirty players were present: Afternoon tea was given by Mrs A: W. Budge, ami the President kindly donated trophies for the occasion. The first; prize was won by J. R. L. Stanford and Mrs Budge. Detailed results are as follows, • Nine holes were played:—

Lawrey (rec. 8), 79—71; S. Spencc and Mrs Copping (rec. 4), 65—61; P. Budd and Mrs Budd (rec. 8), 70—62; F. P. Uniacke and Mrs Uniacke (rec. 8), 93—85. In. declaring the links open for- th< season the President (Mr A. W. Budge),.expressed the hope that the same keen interest would be taken, by the players this season as in the>past.
