Sir Lionel E. G. Carden, K.C.M.G., ■ British Minister at Mexico, has been i appointed Minister to Brazil, and returns to Mexico temporarily, states a London cablegram. At the Homan Catholic Church on Easter Monday morning the marriage of Mr William Bussell, of Stratford, to Miss Jessie Grant, of Hawera, was | solemnised, the Bov. Father Maples ' performing the ceremony. Miss Ruby Grant,' sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid,.and.Mr J. Bussell, brother , of the bridegroom, as best man. Captain P. Hall-Thompson has been appointed Naval Adviser to New Zealand. Ho commands H.AI.S. Philomel on her re-commissioning in duly, states a London cablegram. * A pretty and interesting wedding took place at Holy Trinity Church, Stratford, on Wednesday, when Miss Charlotte Lavinia, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Wilks, of Stratford, was married to Mr Charles Liddington, eldest son of Mr and Airs Liddington, of Te Kiri. The ceremony was performed by the vicar, the Rev. W. A. Butler, assisted by the Rev. E. L. Harvie and Rev. G. W. Dent (vicar of Eltham). The church was well filled with the friends and relations of the parties. The bridegroom being a lay reader and a member of the choir, the latter were well represented, and the service was fully shoral,afterwards followed by a celebration of the Holy Communion. The sermon was preached by the Rev. Dent. The bride was attended by the following bridesmaids: Misses F. Liddington (chief), C. Wilks, G. Ingles and I). Francis, and was given away by her father. Air George Liddington supported his brother as best man. The bride’s dress was of cream silk with orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and she carried a shower bouquet of elaborate design. Her travelling costume was of Heather tweed, with blade picture hat. A reception was held at the I oresters’ Hall, and the usual toasts were honored, after which Air and Airs Liddington left by motor car for AVanganui en route for Auckland. The happy couple were the recipients of many handsome anti useful presents.
