At the conference of the Grand Lodge of the Loyal Orange institute of New Zealand, the following resolution was carried: “The Grand Lodge of the Loyal Orange Institute affirms its support of the Bihle-in-Schools League as the only practical solution by which the Bible and its teaching can be restored to the people’s schools. The Grand Lodge again endorses the request for the referendum asked fo ■ by the Bible-in r State-Schools League, and points out that any refusal on the part of Parliament to grant the referendum asked for in the name of a- very largo majority of the population would bo an endorsement by Parliament of the extraordinary position laid down by Roman Catholic opponents that a referendum should not be taken; in effect, tbe refusal of the referendum would be to accept the theory of the Roman Catholic Church that the people are not allowed to settle .their own affairs.”
