At Mr Xewton King’s monthly sale nl hides, skins, etc., held yesterday, there was a good attendance ,of buyers. Hides and skins more than maintained their high level of prices under excited competition. Ordinary butcher cow were par to Id higher, and washed cow were par to Jd higher. Ox were firm at late rates. Sheepskins showed another sharp rise at prices which must be very profitable to vendors. Lambskins were Id to Jcl higher, lamb pelts Id, pelts and 4 wools id higher, and .) wools -Jd higher. Lamb and fleece wool displayed a quieter tone—no doubt due to the decline in Bradford tops. Xewton King reports: For my Haymarket sale on Saturday last I had a full yarding of pigs, which were offered before a large attendance of buyers. Prices ruling were about par with my last sale, all lines being cleared at the hammer at the following rates:—Slips and weaners 6s 6d, 7s 6d to 10s 6d ; small stores 12s 6d, 13s (id to 19s; medium ditto £1 3s Cd to Cl l()s; pedigree boars up to £3 7s; pedigree weaner sows £1 Is; gig, £l-1 10s; geese 3s, brake £23 10s; and a quantity of timber and sundries at usual rates.
