Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report as hollows : On Wednesday, Ist inst., we held our usual monthly sale in our Kohuratahi yards, when there was a large (attendance, the sale being a most successful one. -The yarding consisted of 215 head of cattle and 098 sheep, of which 222 cattle and 882 sheep acre sold, which shows that there was a fair demand, also that a good clearance was effected. Prices as follows 'Weaner steers made up to .‘l6s, weaner heifers 22s 6d, 20 months heifers 60s, 20 mouths stem's 68s, 725, r ss (id, 765, 2 to 21 year old steers, fair line 91s, lambs realised (is (id for cully, 8s to 8s (id for fair to 9s 7d for good lines, old owes made from 7s for weedy, 9s 8d for medium, to 12s 7d for fair lines, 2tootli ewes 13s 5d to 14s, rains from 6s fid for weedy to 1-Jgus for fair stuff. On Tuesday, 7th inst., we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when wo had a medium yarding of 312 head of cattle and 442 sheep, (vhich wore practically all sold at the hammer or afterwards at the following rates. The day turned out very rough, consequently the prices suffered slightly'Weaner steers 27s 6d for medium, 31s to 35s for goon, to 37s 6d for really good stuff, weaner heifers 17s (id for small, 24s to 26s (id for medium, 27s to 28s mr good lines, mixed stuff of good quality realised from 13s, 21s Gd to 255, 20 mouth steers in fair demand 46s 6d for small, 68s for medium, 70s to 71s for fair stuff, cows, not in such good demand, made 52s fid, 51s for small, 65s to 71s for medium, 78s to 80s for good bulky stores, forward cows showing quality 85s to 90s for small, 97s 6d to 100 s for medium, 105 s to 120 s for fats, 21 year steers up to 105 s, which was realised for a nice line from a Toko client. Lambs, culls, frofn -Is for small, 6s 6d for medium, 9s for fair quality. 4 and 5 year old ewes 8s 9d to' ■ 10s 9d. i .

Prior to the above sale the associated brokers offered the weaners donated to the “A. and P. Association, to a very large attendance of the public. Competition was keen and very public spirited, and many <of the purchasers resold the stock on behalf of the Association, which should do well out of the sale.

On Tuesday we also hold our usual monthly sale of- wool, wsheep'skinfe, hides and tallow, when we offered C 7 packages of wool and the usual quantity of skins, etq. There was a fair attendance of buyers, and competition was keen for all lines offered. Wool generally was of inferior quality, mostly seedy and heavy, which detracted considerably from its appearance, also from its value. Lambs wool seedy, 7id to 8d : clean lambs wool Bkl to Slid; X breed fleoeo B|d to 9d; mixed hales 8.1 d ; erutellings,•• 6Jd ; pieces, up to C-Jd; black wool 7d to 7icl; bellies X, sijd to Gf-d; locks, heavy, up to lid; horsehair, medium quality, Is 7d per lb. Sheepskins were not of the host quality, a number of the lines being of a pelty nature with little wool. Poor pelts, little wool, Sd, lid, Is; larger spread Is 2d, Is -Id, Is Gd; good pelts, 2s Gd to 2s id ; lamb skins, light woolod 2s 2d; hogget skins, little wool rather pelty, Is 9d to Is lid; damaged pelts with light wool, Is Gd, Is 8d to Is 9d; fair pelts, light wool, 2s Gd, 2s lid, 3s, 3s 2d ; fair woolled but seedy realised 2s Gd to 3s Gd ; good pelts, fair wool, 4s Gd. 4s 8d to 5s 4.(1 each; salted pelts, 2s 3d; good skins, 'fair wool, is, is 2d, to is Sd; good pelts, good wool, realised 5s IGd, Gs Gd, 6s lOd to 8s Sd for good stuff. A skin taken out of a line offered on account of a Stanley v Hoad client realised 15s Id; tallow 23s to 25s per ewt. Since we last reported, we have sold a large number of weaners, 200 iiead of which went to the Ohura. Weaner heifers made from 17s, 245, 25s to 28s, weaner steers 27s Gd, 31s, 32m 6d to 31s Gd; 20-month steers 71s 6d, 75s 6d, 77s Gd to 80s; empty heifers, not in demand, 53s to 62s 6d ; 2.' to 3-year old steers 115 s to 125 s Gd ; lambs Is, ss, 5s Gd to 7s 6d; medium 8s 6(1, 8s 9d, 9s Gd to 10s for good; freezers np to 13s ; 2-tooth mixed ewes and wethers 12s 3d to I Is 3d ; -I and 5-year old ewes, in demand, 13s 3d, 13s Gd, 14s to Its 3d; old ewes, poor quality, 10s 9d, 11s 3d to 11s Gd for
