A most successful meeting of tlio dentists practising in Taranaki was ; held in Stratford yesterday, there bejing an attendance of 23 out of a possible 25, and judging by the enthusiasm shown, the promoters of the .meeting could not fail to be highly satisfied. I The occasion was marked by two [very important features, namely a •demonstration of advanced dentistry, and the formation of the Taranaki branch of the New Zealand Dental [Association, | The afternoon was taken up mainly with five clinics, introducing a new (analgesic apparatus demonstrated by Dr, D. C. Morrison, of New York; in [addition there were shown a number •of specimens of prosthetic work done by the leading practitioners of the Dominion.
Address by President-Elect. In the evening a meeting was hold for the purpose of forming a branch, when there were present:—Messrs iM. E. Denniston (President-elect, N.Z.D.A.), A. C. H. Collins, E. S. Bay ley, C. G. Gray, A. M. Mac Diarmid, B. H. Chaney, Hursthouse (New Plymouth), C. O’Carrol (Inglewood), F. N. Fusscll, J. S. Lyons, T. Lonergan, S. B. Hunter (Stratford), E. C. Carter, Sir Chas. Burdett (Elthani), J. Gray, Barley, Bright, Swinburne (Hawera), Gilbert (Patea), Craig (Manaia), and Hammond (Opunake). The meeting was addressed by Mr Denniston, who pointed out to those present who did not belong to the N.Z.D.A. the very obvious advantages of becoming affiliated to the parent Association, those, briefly, being the stimulus to, do better work, seeing and hearing other men give clinics and lectures, the educational advantage of exchanging ideas, the feeling of good-fellowship engendered, and the advancement of tho profession, and the individual by conducting practices on a more highly ethical basis. It was decided unanimously to form a branch and affiliate with tho N.Z. Dental Association, all those present subsequently enrolling as members. Meetings and clinics will bo arranged two j pr< three times, aj year in tho most suitably situated centres. Votes of thanks to Mr Denniston, the donors of specimens, etc., concluded what was probably an unequalled meeting in tho matter of attendance proportional to the number of dentists in Taranaki, and to the great distance which many had to travel.
