STREET RIOTS IN PALERMO

Differences of opinion have arisen between the syndicalist organisations in Palermo, the capital of Sicily. One section of the syndicalists declared a general strike, and the whole citv has been thrown into turmoil. Troops have been concentrated within the city boundary. The shops are closed, and business is at a stand, still. Thosuands of workmen paraded the streets. Attempts were made to set fire to the Town Hall. The soldiers intervened. and rioting began. The workmen used stones and sticks, whereupon the police drew their swords and charged the rioters. Many persons were injured.
