FIRE.
POST OFFICE AND STORE. [Peb Press Association 1 Pahiatua, April 2. The post office store at Mangamutu, opposite the Pahiatua railway station, was totally destroyed by fire this morning. The post office records were saved. The cause of the fire is unknown, but it is believed it originated in the chaff room attached to the shop. The business was carried on by J. McNicol. The stock was insured for £6OO. Portion of the stock was saved. The building was owned by E. J. Staunton, Motueka. The amount of the insurance is not available.
